Percipatation- The temperate grassland, there is a mixture of rain and snow in cold winters. The average rainfall is between 10 and 30 inches. In the tropical grassland, there are two seasons, dry and rainy. In the rainy season, the rainfall is between 20 to 50 inches peruture fluctuation during all parts of the year. One thing that I have discover was that grassland can vary tremendously which has a very larger impact on seosans.

Location - Grasslands are located on every continent with the exception of Antarctica. Some locations include Argentina, Australia, New Zealand Russia and South Central North, America, Hungary, Africa.

Average Temperatures - Well the average temperatures of the grassland the summer's are pretty hot and the winters are cold. the temperatures in the summer drop to exactally 100 degrees fahrenheit. The winter temperatures drop as well to 40 degrees below zero f .

Climate - Grasslands occur to have less rain then other ecosystems in the summer and fall. Deep in the grasslands they have soil that are very nutrient and rich and also has large amount of tissue. Grasslands are very for using winter snow as insulation here's to many plants snow gets trapped among leaves and stems. that's why the snow protects the plants with water in spring when the snow eventually melts. Did you also know that the grassland biome climate is in a mid latitude zone.

Habbitat - Grasslands are very important habitats for 200 plants and animal specials have become rare or extinct because loss of the habbitat type. Did you people know that grasslands are one of the most endanged ecosystems in the whole world. Grasslands are often associated with Canda's praire which are provinces, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. they all often occur in right here in Southern Ontario.

Grassland Animals

African Elephants -African Elephants are the largest animals to step foot on land they have ver large ears as well.
Bobcats - Bobcats are sometimes called wildcats because they are roughly twice as big as the average housecat.
Zebra - Zebra's are the types of animals that are social animals that spends most of its time in herds.
scorpion - A scorpion is a animal that has a venomous arachnid with a large stinger on its tail.
Red Fox - Red Foxes - Red Foxs are meat eating mammals with a long bushy tail.

Plants / Trees - Three trees that I found in the grasslands were baobab tree, candelabra tree, and jarrah tree. well first the jarrah tree is a upside down tree that can live for thousands of years. Then the candelabra tree that has sap in it that is poisonous to humans and animals and could cause blistering, breathing problems, and temporary blindness. the jarrah tree is found in Australian savannas and this tree has a very strong scent. Now the three plants in the grasslands are the blazingstar, sweet coneflower, and the purple coneflower. Now the blazingstar flower magenta colored flower that is about 5 ft high. Then sweet coneflower that can grow up to 6 ft but has to be in moist soil. Finally the purple coneflower is a flower that produces seeds after the purple petals fall off the Goldfinches love to eat these seeds.

Grassland Food Web

This food web shows how all of these animals eat their prey in the grasslands in a real environment. As you can see we have all of the animals including snake, lizard, scorpion, fox, hawk, rodents, tarantula, and insects. First we are going to start off with the fox and the snake the foxes prey is the snake and the snakes prey is the lizard and the rodents. Now the lizard and rodents eat the grass and plants in order to survive. Then we also have the tarantula, scorpion, and the lizard and they all eat the insects for a living and as you know the insects eat the grass and plants in the grasslands. Finally we got the hawk that eats off the tarantula, scorpion, and lizard in order to live.

Type Of Weather -

In the grassland you will find various types of weather ranging from rain, sleet, snow, and sunniness. The amount of rain fall is important in some areas of the grassland . The average rain fall per year is at least from 10-30 inches this means to me that rain is not so bad out there in the grasslands. This also affects the trees as well because its hard for trees to complete grasses were places in the grasslands that has layers of soil and are also moist during part of the year but the deeper the soil is it will always be dry.
